Ukko-Luosto landscape hut in Pyhä-Luosto National Parkproject
Pyhä-Luosto National Park is a popular hike destination, and the new Ukko-Luosto Landscape Hut is a welcome addition to nearby Luosto trails. Located less than 2 km from the village of Luosto, the landscaped house is also suitable for first-time hikers and international travelers who want to enjoy natural light in a safe way. In addition to self-employed backpackers, the landscape hut serves local tour companies. The hut, with its trails, allows companies to offer new year-round products, such as snowshoeing or hiking.
The reserve protects the fragile nature of the north, but also the darkness, for example. This and various light phenomena of nature, as well as landscapes that change depending on the cycle of the year, can be observed and photographed from the large windows of the landscape hut in warmth, protected from rain and wind. The landscape hut also has a small exhibition called Tunturi Light Landscapes, whose texts and illustrations allow tourists to immerse themselves in, for example, the views of the national park, the northern lights and the starry sky. The wonderful floor-to-ceiling wall illustrations of the exhibition were made by Anna Pakkanen.
